Playing With Your Marionette
All Marionettes:Instructions:

Hold the longest part of the control bar between your thumb and fingers
with the marionette facing forward. Roll the control bar back and forth
no more than a quarter turn in each direction. The marionette's feet should
be just barely touching the ground, so that as you roll the control bar
the feet alternately come up off the ground.
Much variety in movement and action can be obtained by
simply varying the above instructions and trying different movements.
Watch the video clips for more ideas
and visual instruction.

Wooden Marionettes: (Additional Instructions) Hold the part of the control bar that supports the weight of the marionette. This would be the fatter stick on the same side as the head.
Dancing: Begin
with the above instructions. Staying in place will give the puppet movement
and the appearance of dancing. This can be improved by using a shorter
quicker rolling movement. The puppet can “get down” and so
on. Walking: Follow the instructions for Step 1, and then simultaneously move your hand forward, allowing your marionette to walk. Keep the marionette just high enough so the feet come up off the ground. Use a small twirling motion on the bar. Climbing: Use the instructions found in Step 1 while moving your marionette up an object. This can be a person, table and so on. There! Your marionette is an excellent climber. More: Your marionette can do much more, such as push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, throwing tantrums, and giving hugs. Just have fun and use your imagination
